Brandon Slate
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Mr. Slate is excited to return to his Alma Mater and serve as the Assistant Band Director for the Hebron High School Band.
Mr. Slate is entering his third year of teaching. Before his appointment at Hebron, Mr. Slate served as the Assistant Band Director at Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. During his tenure, Mr. Slate was the director of the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Musical Pit Orchestra, and assisted in team teaching the Marching Band. Under his direction, the Grapevine Symphonic Band earned consistent Superior Ratings at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation. Under his leadership, the Grapevine Jazz Band competed in the TCU Jazz Festival and placed 3rd in 2024. As a director, the Grapevine Mustang Band Won Multiple Bands of America Class Championships and Numerous Outstanding Caption Awards. The Mustang Band also had the honor of performing in the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, marking a memorable international experience for the students and staff. As the Director of the Musical, the GHS Pit Orchestra was recognized with multiple nominations for Outstanding Student Orchestra by the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theater Awards.
Mr. Slate earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University. While at TCU, he performed with the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensembles, and the Horned Frog Marching Band, where he served as Drum Major during his senior year.
From 2018 to 2021, Mr. Slate was a member and section leader with the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps. He was part of the 2019 DCI World Championship-winning corps and earned the John Brazale Award for Best Visual Performance. That same year, he was a member of the Blue Devils Vocal Ensemble, which placed 1st in the DCI Individual & Ensemble Competition.
Mr. Slate is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and Kappa Kappa Psi.
