Associate Director

Travis Pruitt is in his eleventh year as Associate Director of Bands at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas. His responsibilities include conducting the Hebron Symphonic Band and Concert Band 2, assisting with the Wind Symphony and Concert Band 1, team teaching the marching band, instructing low brass classes, and supporting the Hebron cluster middle school programs. Bands under his direction are consistent UIL Sweepstakes Award recipients. Notably, the Wind Symphony was recognized as the 2022 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 6A State Honor Band, and the Symphonic Band has been a multi-year Citation of Excellence National Winner, as awarded by The Foundation for Music Education.

The Hebron Marching Band has enjoyed national recognition and consistent success during Mr. Pruitt’s tenure. Most recently, the band won the 2024 UIL 6A State Championship and earned the Bronze Medal in 2023. In 2022, they were named BOA San Antonio Super Regional Grand Champions, earned the UIL 6A Silver Medal, and performed in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The band also claimed the 2021 UIL 6A State Championship and BOA Super Regional Grand Championship. Additional accolades include BOA Grand Nationals Bronze Medals and Outstanding Music Performance awards in 2015, 2019, and 2023, as well as Silver Medals at BOA San Antonio (2017) and UIL State (2016, 2020).

Outside of Hebron, Mr. Pruitt is in his second season as a member of the Ensemble Coordination team for the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps, following 12 successful years on the brass staff of the Bluecoats Drum Corps, the 2024 DCI World Champion and recipient of the Jim Ott Award for Best Brass Performance.

From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Pruitt served as Director of Bands at the Clovis High School Freshman Academy in Clovis, New Mexico. Under his direction, the band was named the 2012 NMMEA State Honor Band, earned numerous "Best in Class" awards, and consistently received Superior ratings. He also assisted with the Clovis High School Marching Band, which secured five New Mexico State Championships during his tenure.

As a performer, Mr. Pruitt was a finalist in the 2008 U.S. Army Field Band Euphonium audition, earned 2nd place in the 2007 Ekstrand Graduate Performance Competition, and was a member of the 1999 DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard.

Mr. Pruitt holds a Bachelor of Music Education from New Mexico State University, graduating with honors, and a Master of Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder. His professional affiliations include TMEA, TBA, Phi Beta Mu, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in Arlington, Texas, with his wife Charlayne, a school administrator in Lake Dallas ISD.
